Very nice..is this from a hardware machine or software based?

Here's a sneak preview of "a brand new processor" I've been working on.... Grin

(please bare in mind that this sample is recorded in 320kbps MP3 format just for upload purposes as I couldn't be arsed with converting to FLAC)  Smiley

I can now reveal what Processor X is. Smiley

It is Breakaway FM.
http://www.claessonedwards.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5
And it's in beta testing now.  The feature set for the $199 version which is our first offering is set, and now we're just working out last kinks (really done hopefully) and creating and finalizing some more presets.

Here is another off-air sample of a preset which I'm working on which will be included with Breakaway FM.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
(check below for a newer sample of a newer version of the same preset i'm working on)
And this is LOUDER than I have EVER heard any Omnia or Orban.  Actual off-air recording at 75uS emphasis.

Enjoy, and we look forward to having all of the SS2 krew check us out.  For those of you who are wanting to get serious....  this $199 processor is VERY VERY SERIOUS, and in fact....  as you'll come to find out in your own testing, and as stations all over the world are starting to use this (it's ALREADY being used on over FIFTY huge stations in huge markets all around the world, including a top 5 station in NYC!!!!!, and it's not even technically for sale yet, lol)...

Anyways...  Smiley  this is seriously the REAL "BigBaw Killah" cos we're SERIOUSLY knocking $13,000 Orbans and Omnias off the air, left and right, and this isn't even really available yet!!!   heheheh.  But in a few weeks, it should go on sale.

I hope you guys are as excited as I am about this.

This IS the revolution in radio processors you have been waiting for!!!

new, improved preset (only one of like 15 presets currently, and you can... adjust them Wink )

sounds:

75uS
Madonna - Push - BaFM NYC 9 - 75uS 30 high 17.5 low.flac

and 25uS
Madonna - Push - BaFM NYC 9 - 25uS 30 high 20 low.flac

one neat thing we've discovered with the new (and truly revolutionary) clipper, is that at 25uS...  for streaming mp3 and aac...  is that almost all of the lack of peak control is in the high frequencies.  so because of the 25uS pre-emphasis and de-emphasis, it's basically acting as a pre conditioner for the codec, and not only that but the way the codec works is literally thrown out by the codec basically.  so you DON'T lose any quality from the clipping AND it still maintains very good peak control AFTER decoding.

it's the next best thing to a "free lunch" for audio codecs, and the loudness is undeniable.

this will literally give you an advantage of +1.5db over the competition, for the density you're capable of getting with Breakaway FM.  that alone is a HUGE advantage in the streaming world, even if you're running the same processing head 2 head.  and well...  Breakaway is imo the best sounding and most effortless sounding processing in the world.

how else could my "New York City" preset gain like 1-2db on the current flagship audio processors, without even doing composite clipping.

and that's a whole other thing...  the composite clipping that will be coming in the more than $199 versions of Breakaway FM, will give you EVEN MORE of an advantage over the competition.  i can't go into details now, but.... some of the techniques employed are even more revolutionary than the clipping mechanism itself, and will allows you to literally be 3-5db LOUDER than anything else on the dial, even in New York City, without ANY audible distortion what so ever.

nuff said, for now.  Cool

these are L/R recordings, with 75uS pre-emph...  Reference Level -3db.  You'll need MPX Tool to properly hear and inspect them, which can be downloaded for free at:
www.mpxtool.com

Install MPX Tool, select soundcard to use, and then drag both FLAC files at the same time, onto it.  And you can A/B between the two.

Sounds, erm, loud.

I'm assuming that to use this it's worth investing in a decent soundcard such as the M-Audio Delta 1010 or Eidrol UA-101?

For outputting MPX from Breakaway, I would check the growing list of recommended soundcards on Breakaway's website.  I have not heard good things about Edirol...  not just because they are dirt cheap (design, not just price), but mainly that they have a LOT of high-frequency noise, when running in 96kHz or greater.  You need to have a 192kHz capable converter to output MPX.  So a Delta 1010 wouldn't work for that.

And yes, my New York preset is the loudest in Breakaway. Smiley Shouldn't it be though, with that name? Wink Actually myself I wouldn't choose it for broadcasting, but I don't live in NYC.  I happen to be in love with a preset named Jill FM. Wink

it's BBK v1.0, the final one. Smiley I'm thinking about making it public.  But honestly, if you haven't tried Breakaway Personal yet, try it now. Smiley  The latest beta:
http://bredband.leif.cx/browse/bafm/
comes with the latest version of my Helix preset, which for DAB sounds mind-bogglingly good.

SS2 is unfortunately not an FM processor, at all.  But for DAB, it's not bad, if you don't want or need to be too horribly loud. Wink
