Ok... I have that version of BBK, thanks, by the way I made a few changes in the agc for better leveling, IMO sounds excellent for streaming. And you are right, SS is not a FM processor, is a pain that Breakaway needs a lot of CPU usage. In the "on air" computer can't run proppertly in a Pentium Dual Core @1.87 with 2 Gb RAM memory and a Realtek HD sound card. Tell me what are the best cpu setup for run this program, and the minimun setup for run porperly. Thanks

A Core 2 Quad Q6600 is only like $170 OEM, and it kicks the snot out of any CPU that's 2 years old or more.  A newer Pentium 4 HT or a Pentium D (your CPU is one of these? care to post a CPUID verification url?) at that speed should be able to run it just fine.

But yeah, that's an important thing to remember, is that mHz has never meant much of anything, and that's especially true today.  Even what's considered to be "Pentium 4" has went through massive changes in capabilities.  A 1st generation P4 core up against a new P4 core, it's remarkable how much faster the newer ones are.  That's why it's important to use something like CPUID.  It can tell you the details about what kind of and what version of and what revision of, etc...  your CPU is.  Not just some marketing name, like Pentium.

That being said, yes...  the Intel Q6600 is a great buy.  Heck, you can build a whole new computer around one for like $500.  Or upgrade for $250 (with a nice mainboard, and gigs of memory).  Breakaway Broadcast has been running fine on some of the new Celeron Duos too (based on Core 2), but for the price of a budget quad core, that's absolutely the way to go.  And with Intel 7 "Nehalem" based product just starting to hit the street, I bet that some time a bit after the new year, there's going to be some big price drops across the board, for more of the middle range of Core 2 quads (the fastest non-extreme quads).

Breakaway Broadcast, running in CPU Optimized Mode and the new multi-threaded mode, which is auto-enabled in Optimized Mode now.  It should be included in the next beta.

Will Breakaway Broadcast run well on AMD CPU's?

If so, which ones?

Do you know of any motherboards with decent onboard sound which support 192Khz?

Yes it will run on AthlonXP 3500+ but at about 70-80% cpu, which is not recommended.  And this is on "Efficient" mode, so the peak control isn't quite perfect.  You will still see peaks to 102-103 % modulation.

In Normal mode though, it has perfect 100% modulation control.

Another fun sample, this time demodulated, and of a sound that a Breakaway customer wanted to attain.  I thought it would be fun to modify my last "Mass Murderer" preset (multiband gains only mod) to try to do the same sound, for fun.

Here's the difference:
Swedish Test SS2.flac
Swedish Test BBP.flac

If you look at the SS2 one, it is peaking a lot quieter.  This is because it is compensated for the lack of proper peak control of the high-frequency pre-emphasis limiters which causes SS2 to have about 144% modulation.  Oops Wink So I compensated it so SS2 was modulating 105% peaks.

So yes, this is how it would sound on-air comparison, within 105% modulation... something typical you will find today on FM in complaint areas.

Oh also, this is 50uS pre-emphases.  With 75uS pre-emphasis SS2 actually sounds quite a lot more muffled.  But this isn't really a test, it's just for fun, good to compare sounds and notice how effortlessly loud Breakaway can sound on air, and also my Mass Murderer preset for SS2 is probably as loud on FM (without really unacceptable distortion) as SS2 will ever be.

Just don't play some xylophones, Mass Murderer is named that for a reason. Wink

Just using the Breakaway Personal Demo now.  Sounds very good, especially FRENCH KISS.
