Is there any type of music you had in mind for this preset? It fails the "cliptst" by a long shot - probably to no surprise to you Wink - but does indeed sound insanely loud  Shocked

Brûlé: French for "Burnt".  The "flag", resembling Neapolitan ice cream.  I'll just leave that open for interpretation.

And yeah, it's not a clean preset on some things.  It is indeed a loud French preset.  Someone had asked about one on another thread.  I had this one sitting around for a few years now, and so I released it.

Nice sound!

Any reason why the clipper is not deployed?

The clippers are too soft, and by the time you turn up the thresholds on it far enough to get this loud, the only thing they will be doing is making the sound less clear with more non-linear filters, not actually clipping anything.

So why have something there that just makes the sound more dirty, without actually doing anything?
 Cool
Not really any good reason to have them there, for this one.

The final output still has digital clipping on it, and in some cases (like this) it sounds way better.

Thanks JesseG.

Do I have anything to gain by moving the Lookahead slider to max?

In my situation, latency/delay is not an issue.

You can try it and see if you like it.  It will change the way that the attack of the compressors is shaping the incoming transients.  So the first thing you'll hear (from like 4ms to like 10ms) is a reduction in the transient edge sharpness.

Above that, and you're eventually going to get audible pumping of a sort.  Micro-pumping if you will.

Thanks for your advice JesseG - very impressed with the sound on this preset.  Always a pleasure to hear your work getting the best out of the software.

Furthermore - is it acceptable to open the AGC Gate slide to something like -40dB, but not adjusting the Max Gain?

On my particular setup (I'm running the MP3s at -4.8dB peak) I'm finding quiet passages aren't pulled up anywhere nearly enough.

Yea totally.  Unless of course the max gain is already being reached too, then you should increase that too.

Sounds very nice. Grin Is this getting double-processed, or is SS2 getting fed right off the board?

There's a Behringer Composer Pro sitting in the chain, working pretty lightly.  Mainly there to protect the web and AM lines which feed off it.
