I'm searching for a preset to obtain either 'clear' voice for 'dry' voiceovers (just voice, no pads) or boosted sound for music typical of Bigbaw series.
I'm running a stream test by a secondary machine based on a 'spare' sound blaster 'live'.
Currently I'm using Bigbaw 24 but I get a lot of saturation on "S" letters which is not present in flat wav masters so I suppose I'm using wrong preset.
Automation is OtsDJ with Stacker for 'driving' SS2 and Shoutcast encoder.
I tried also to switch from Blaster to VAC but noised "S" are still there.
Maybe Bigbaw's 'father' Jesseg could help me some way.
Thanks

I don't know if anyone has ever done a voice-specific preset.  It's not a bad idea though.  Talk formats and all.

Does anyone have something mpanda can try?

Jesseg, do you think Bigbaw could result noises/saturation on "S" pronounciation or it could be something related to Sound Blaster?
Thanks

I don't know if Sound Blaster introduces "s" saturation but doesn't have a plane response, sounds like EQuing....mainly in the hi freq. About BBK, some versions sounded with distorsion ("s" distortion) in FM but in the Tx not in the sound card... Lowering the out levels and the distortions gone....

No way. (lowered output level, switched to a better audio card M-Audio 410 FW...no significant improvement)
Only where I set SS2 on 'standby' I get 'clear' voice but consequently sound is very 'flat'.
It's a preset "problem".
Maybe Jesseg could have or to suggest a 'balanced' BigBaw preset to act as a 'good' compromise between music and voice.

Thanks

Do you hear the distortion at the output of the soundcard? or when you hear the FM station in a tuner? When I suggested to lowered the output I mean the "modulation". Maybe you are overdeviating your signal, was my case when "s" sound distort with this preset.
I note that you are using a very first version of BBK, JesseG launch a several updates of this preset later. Maybe a more recent version of the preset solves that problem. In my case I found BBK one of the best sounding presets for FM, even when BBK hasn't made for FM, it was intended for DAB. Greets

Thanks for your kindest attention to my problem.

Well, at first, I'm running a 'shoutcast streaming', not a FM tx. Smiley (just to be aligned...)

I lowered either win mixer output or SS2 output.(OtsDJ mix out doesn't need to lower as it's flat...no dynamics or eqing processing)

I don't refer to monitor or mixer direct out....I get distortion on 'S' and 'CH' after that, where pipeline has processed by multiband before going to streaming encoder. If I set SS2 in 'standby' vocals are clean.

Of course BBK presets are natural born sound booster....they make sound 'fat'...and I like it but it's the first time I try to use such presets in an hybrid format where vocals have a specific role which overtake common stingers or sweepers.
They act as teasers or promos so communication contents are longer and such a feature could point out the need to 'balance' BBK preset till to a kind of compromise
to co-live music and voice.

As Jesseg well said probably it's an issue of 'format' where we introduce the 'talk' element and not just music.

Did you have some good experience with some BBK where 'talk' element results 'clean'?
If you have it please give me a link to download and to test it.

Thanks

Greetings.

I wanted to ask Jesseg, if he could finally release the 1.0 version of bbk. For a long time is available the 0.32, and since the focus is also to Breakaway, it might be nice to try the latest version of good presets bbk for Sound Solution. I hope it is possible.
Sorry for bad English.

With respect,
Dax

I run BBK 1.0 in my station (see my signature). Its clean like GOD and IMO ant taste sounds better that the Breakaway Live Processor. The same preset I used it in FM broadcast in last year and is clean too. I never had the "s" "ch" distort that you said. BBK 1.0 and GAP 0.6 are the best presets that I try for SS2.0. GAP 0.6 sounds very close too BBK 1.0 by the way. Take a listen to my stream and tell me that you think. SS is the only DSP running and the sound is directly send to the encoders without use soundcards

Your sound is clean and probably it could act as a reasonable compromise between voice and music.
Unfortunately I did not get a jingle or id or any 'vocal' production element during the listening of your stream. Just songs.
So I cannot say if BBK 1.0 could fit my need.

About Breakaway, I did test it and yes it's a good stuff but I'm stuck on SS2 (I love it...forever)
