How to fix the "s" sound

I routinely hear a "sss" sound whenever one pronounces a word that starts with a "s". The other sounds do not create a problem, but with S-words it comes across with a "shh", distrubance, surl, I don't know the technical word for it. These s-sounds do not come across if I am simply listening to the song on the computer, only appears on the radio.
Is there something on the Sound Solution DSP 1.3 mixer software that runs with our transmission sotware (StationPlayList)? We have set it to either Easy Listening or Radio Expander. Or is the problem with the computer sound board?

Welcome to the world of radio processing!
This is typical clipper distortion, notorious for killing the "S" in audio...

It could be any number of things the distortion is coming from. It might not even be distortion, it might be that you're driving the 5-band highs into it's limiters too hard, could be the same things with the highs in the 2-band. Could be SS2 clipper. Could be SS2 pre-emph limiter. It could be your soundcard. It could be your stereo-gen & FM exciter.
Process of elimination is what you need to do.
