what's the processing?  it sounds... over-limited, for the final volume.  you should be able to open up the peak dynamics quite a bit, and still have the same average volume.

Sorry for the delay in response.

The processing used to be SoundSolution, but now it's another software ap, preceded by a 2 band comp/lim.

The stream you heard at the time was (and still is) used to feed an FM transmitter, hence the aggressive limiting.
